Step into the enchanting world of CITY COUNTRY CITY, a delightful café nestled in the heart of Setagaya City, Tokyo. This hidden gem stands out not just as a café but as an immersive experience blending the love for great pasta and the soul of music.

As you enter, you're immediately greeted by the warm ambiance, where cozy music wafts through the air, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for both intimate meals or social gatherings. The interior is filled with an eclectic mix of vinyl records, echoing a passion for music that runs deeply through the establishment. Patrons often describe the vibe as a haven of tranquility, an oasis away from the bustling streets of Tokyo.

The star of the show, of course, is the food. CITY COUNTRY CITY is renowned for its exceptional pasta dishes, each infused with flavors that highlight a perfect blend of ingredients and creativity. Amongst the popular offerings, the creamy Neapolitan pasta shines with its rich and indulgent sauce, while the mentaiko pasta adds a tantalizing touch of umami that leaves diners craving more. For those who want something unique, their cheese gnocchi is a must-try, delightfully chewy and bursting with flavor. As customer Hirem Özcan so aptly puts it, the “delicious pasta and friendly staff” make you feel wonderful, ensuring every meal is a joy to savor.

The café experiences an exhilarating buzz, especially during lunchtime when it draws crowds eager to dig into its delectable offerings. However, as noted by Lil, evening visits present a more relaxed atmosphere, allowing diners to unwind in a serene environment where the music softly hums in the background.

Adding to the charm, CITY COUNTRY CITY doubles as a record shop, offering visitors the chance to browse through an impressive array of vinyl. This unique combination engages both culinary enthusiasts and music lovers alike. As Rianne White discovered, the experience is cathartic— a moment of escape filled with the smell of amazing pasta and the pleasant sound of vinyl records.

If you find yourself in this bustling neighborhood, a visit to CITY COUNTRY CITY is not just a meal—it's a moment of joy that tempts the taste buds and nourishes the soul. Whether you're a local or a traveler exploring Tokyo, let this café be a part of your routine, where every plate tells a story and every play of music adds a note to your day.

Love pasta here It’s usually full in lunch hours, but dinner time isn’t that busy apparently! The vibe with lots of records disc Neapolitan is creamy for what I know but it was so good. The mentaiko one was also great! Cheese gnocchi is my fav too:)

This was one of the most exciting, cathartic finds in the heights of thrifting and exploring the hidden gold of Tokyo. City Country City holds a feeling of being transported into a moment of pure serenity— a loft of light above the streets, the hum of the vinyl and rustle of vinyl enthusiasts as they move through the archives and the smell of some of the most incredible pasta I’ve had dancing through the space. This served with a couple beers was magic and the service was wonderful. This place is unmatched in its real authenticity and feeling of peace. Easy to walk past and never know if it’s magnificence, keep an eye out for this discrete jewel!

A standard pasta place for me in my favourite part of Tokyo, and it's also a record store. Their pasta is consistently good for the last few years!

This is a great little place, good spread of records, in a very chill and welcoming environment. The owner is very knowledgeable, we couldn't communicate but through the power of looking at what I'd previously brought, he was able to recommend some really interesting pieces . I had some tasty coffee while I dug and then some pasta for dinner after. All together a great experience, check it out if you like music , food and coffee

They ONLY have pasta (just a heads up). Amazing spot for cheap vinyl records! Pasta is just okay. Went on a Sunday late morning and waited in line for an hour. Only 3 tables and 4 barstool seats.

Owned by Shimokita folk music legend Sokabe Kenichi , City Country City, is fondly referred to as CCC by locals. CCC opened its doors in 2006 bringing a medley of vintage records, beers, pasta and coffee to Shimokitazawa. We loved it here! We browsed through the vinyl and enjoyed a pasta and cold beer whilst exploring the neighbourhood. Definitely a must!
